Itinerary

Fabienne van de Rydt was born in Sorel (Québec).  At 7 years old she won a First Price in a Youth Competition in drawing that was held aboard the French liner Ancerville on her way to Senegal, where her parents where teaching in the international voluntary service. She studied Visual Arts at Marie-de-France College in Montreal. Her teacher found her paintings original and had suggested her to go in arts.  She studied English at Harvard University. A few years later she took a course in oil painting. Then she studied astronomy at the University of Montreal.  With a M.A. she worked in Baltimore at the Space Telescope Science Institute. She married, followed her husband to Danemark and France. and went to California where he worked at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.   She was, may be, inspired by the far mysteries of fuzzy or spiral galaxies.

She started studies in Fine Arts at Bishop's University in 2018.

Her natural passion for painting never left her and astonomy revived it. In 1992, he founnd her prefered medium : watercolor.  First she studied it by herself, then she took courses with Quebec painters. In 2005-2006 with Denis Lambert (2 sessions); in 2006 with France Cadorette; in 2008 with Denis Palmer, and in 2023 with Diane Boilard.   He was surprised ar her natural talent. “Where did you learn watercolors ?” he said. “Your fades-in and -out are outstandingly beautiful.”
